Like so many other people, I was fascinated with sharks (especially the Great White!) as a little kid.  And it has remained that way my entire life.  So naturally I live for that magical time of year in the first week of August… Discovery Channel’s SHARK WEEK!

Shark Week 2009 kicks off Sunday, August 2nd, and this year is all about the BITE!  From classic episodes to a sneak peak of what’s to come in 2009, you can catch a piece of the Shark Week action using First on Mars.

New in your First on Mars guide this week is the Crackle Originals network!

Crackle is a Sony Pictures Entertainment owned company that digitally distributes short form web-series, as well as the traditional TV favorites from the dense Sony Pictures catalogue.

The Crackle Originals network focuses on the network’s web-series productions, and there are five new shows for you to find and watch in the First on Mars guide that run the gamut from Kill Bill style action to comedy from the minds of your SNL favorites: Angel of Death, The Groundlings, Hot Hot Los Angeles, The Line and Star-ving.

So dig into Crackle Originals!  Personally, I can’t get enough of Angel of Death this week… now THAT is some bad-ass action!

Chanteuse, Martha Wainwright, turned in a breathtaking performance on last night’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon episode.  The song, “C’est Toujours La Même Histoire” was from a string of upcoming performances by Wainwright to take place at New York City’s Dixon Place Theater June 14-15th.  The performances will focus on the songs of French songstress, Edith Piaf, who Wainwright lists as one of her greatest influences.  The recordings of the show will be the basis for a live album in the near future.

#10: Angela & Jordan – My So-Called Life

They skipped class together, got busted together and kept us glued to one much-loved and much-replayed season of My So-Called Life. The make-out session they had in the boiler room was one of the sexiest things ever on TV.

#9: Matt Damon & Sarah Silverman – Jimmy Kimmel live

Not only do these two make a hot couple – there’s also a song to go with it. Sorry, Jimmy, but we just think Sarah and Matt look better together.

And a very honorable mention has to go to Jimmy Kimmel and Ben Affleck for their sharp retort - Who doesn’t dig that couple?

#8: Julia & Griffin – Party of Five

The sensitive soul and the typical motorcycle-loving bad boy . . . the teen angst just dripped from the screen whenever these two showed up. While their romance wasn’t meant to be and she ultimately ended up with Justin, these two had some serious chemistry while it lasted. Every time they got together there were sparks.

#7: Johnny Bravo & Farrah Fawcett – Johnny Bravo

Such a shame – all his scheming and at the end of the day Johnny can’t get his dinosaur costume off when Farrah finally gives him a kiss. Alright, it may not be as sexy as some of the other hook ups on this list, but it’s the cutest - and definitely the most colorful.

#6: Buffy & Angel – Buffy the Vampire Slayer

When Angel was still cursed with a soul, he and Buffy were inseparable. Despite the fact that we all knew it couldn’t last (he was a vampire, she was the Slayer, after all), it was a steamy affair than only ended when she was forced to kill him to save the world. Damn, their first kiss was intense.

#5: Alex & Izzy - Grey’s Anatomy

While some may say that Meredith and Derek are the main attraction, we all know we kept watching Grey’s Anatomy just to see when Izzy would give in to Alex’s advances. And when they finally decided to take their friendship to the next level, who could say that first kiss was a disappointment?

#4: Marissa & Alex – The O.C.

Sure, it was all probably just a big publicity stunt, since Ryan and Marissa went on to have plenty of hot moments together themselves, but when Marissa fell for Alex in season 2, it was really, really, really sexy.

#3: Lana Lang & Lex Luthor – Smallville

After the tumultuous relationship between Clark Kent and Lana Lang ended, Lana and Lex finally got together in season 5. Their relationship was one of the most complicated and passionate of the series, no less so because of the growing rivalry between Lex and Superman-in-disguise.

#2: Jessie Spano & AC Slater – Saved by the Bell

They were one of the hottest couples of the early 90’s. Elizabeth Berkley went on to do a lot more scandalous stuff, it’s true, but we like her best as the feminist who fell for the jock.

#1: Bones & Booth – Bones

We’ve been waiting for it for years now. After their kiss under the mistletoe last year there was no doubt that it was only a matter of time before they really got together. There’s no need for super powers, no weird love triangle, just lots of dramatic saves on both of their parts and a clear attraction since the first episode. These two hardheaded, clever, crime-fighting heroes make for one fantastic couple – and one hot hook-up.

Some of the mothers in our favorite tv shows are downright mean, others just let their kids run wild. Whether they’re ignoring their kids, nagging them, or simply failing to teach their children the valuable life lessons a parent should be teaching, these moms are just missing that special something. Here’s our list of the Top Ten Worst Mothers on Television.

#10: Estelle Costanza – Seinfeld

She is the root of most of George’s problems in life. Her screechy voice alone earns her a high spot on this list just for being so hard on the ears. How could George have survived that growing up?
Her favorite pastime is yelling at her husband and her son and she’s inadvertently humiliated them many, many times. In fact, George is both annoyed and humiliated by her very existence. Estelle might just be the most annoying mom on TV.

#9: Shirley Partridge – The Partridge Family

The Partridge Family – Stars of stage, television and nightclubs? Taking these kids out on tour in a psychedelic bus is just asking for problems. What is she thinking?

#8: Mona – Who’ The Boss

Angela’s man-crazed mother in Who’s the Boss is one of the most slyly wicked mothers on TV. Her condescending attitude and evil intentions towards Tony are enough to make us glad she wasn’t in one of our homes growing up.

#7: Peg Bundy – Married with Children

She smokes non-stop, she doesn’t cook, and she trades insults constantly with the Dad who could top the list for Worst Dad on TV, Al Bundy. Basically, she does everything mothers aren’t supposed to do.

#6: All of the Mothers on Captian Planet

What are these moms doing while their kids are running around playing with rings that create fire, hurricane force winds and earthquakes? And why do they let their kids hang out with a guy who can get knocked out with a dirty puddle?
These mothers’ main flaw is simply their absence.

#5: Endora - Bewitched

Endora is, quite literally, a witch. Nosy. Meddling. Bordering-on-evil. Unlike some of the mothers on this list, she often seems to have her daughter’s best interests at heart – but that doesn’t mean she’s any less dangerous!
Her daughter Samantha may prefer to wiggle her nose to get the housework done quick and lend a helping hand to her husband, but Endora prefers to sneak around and cause as much trouble as possible. And when gets going on one of her schemes, watch out!
Even her own brother said “When I think of you as a blood relative, I long for a transfusion.” Ouch!

#4: Roseanne – Roseanne

By far, Roseanne is not the kindest mother out there. She likes to teach lessons the hard way. As if her teenage kids don’t have enough to deal with, they have to come home to her insults.
There’s no hope for kind motherly words of wisdom and hot homemade cooking with Roseanne.

#3: Lucille Bluth – Arrested Development

Stealing company money while in the midst of an affair with her husband’s brother. Not the best example in terms of teaching morals to your kids. Her behavior pales in comparison to her husband’s deals with Sadam, but still . . .

#2: Mom – Futurama

She leads companies including Mom’s Friendly Robot Co., Mom’s Friendly Drug Factories and Mom’s Friendly Advanced Weapon & Munitions Co., and then she heads home to abuse her three sons. It doesn’t get much worse than Mom.

#1: Kenny’s mom – South Park

She obviously didn’t teach him manners, and she can’t stop the trash talk either. They biggest problem here though is how she just keeps letting him get killed - over and over and over again.

MTV’s The Phone: The first offering from Executive Producer, Justin Timberlake, is a hold-on-to-your-seat thrill ride of a reality show.  Remember the movie, The Game, with Michael Douglas?  This is the “real” deal!

Parks and Recreation is the new mockumentary brainchild of the producers and writers behind The Office. Hilarious ex-SNL cast member, Amy Poehler, stars as Leslie Knope - a somewhat sweet and doofy Parks and Rec worker in Pawnee, Indiana who takes on a project to turn a construction pit into a park. Parks has received a kinda lukewarm reception in press, but you know people, sometimes critics are just too critical.  A successful TV show is a complex brew, but with production/writing talent of The Office and like Poehler and Aziz Ansari in the lead, it’s hard not to hit a mark, and this show has hit mine.

Southland: Ryan Atwood is all growns ups. He has left the safety of the Cohen family’s friendly O.C. household and is makin’ his way in the LAPD. Okokok…. maybe not (coulda made a good story though). But this O.C. fan is happy to see Benjamin McKenzie in the TV limelight again. This show is a solid police drama. It’s tough, it’s gritty, and much of it is shot with a sort of unsteady camera-hand and grainy evening-news picture quality that gives the show a frenetic tension that goes hand-in-hand with dramatic intensity of the situations these cops and detectives are dealing with. This very well could be the only series that could fill the ER void.

First on Mars hosted a demo lounge at the party to show the site to guests, complete with lounge chairs, coffee tables, and the First on Mars guide shown on a 42-inch plasma screen! And dare I even mention the phenomenal food spread?! Some of the best food I had while in France!

Amid the bumping and grinding of TV executives at the MIPTV conference in Cannes, France last week, we proudly launched First on Mars V2. V2 is all about social. Now you’ll find feeds, show walls and profile pages as you cruise around FOM. We didn’t think the world needs another social network, but we realized these tools are a pretty great way to discover TV shows, gossip about your favorite cast members and, well, to feel a little less lonely as you click the play button!

The newly added First on Mars feeds provide users with real time updates on activity related to their favorite shows, networks, TV moods and, now, other First on Mars TV fans. Profiles include graphical representations of the shows, networks, TV moods and people the user has chosen to follow as well as a clickable history of the user’s activity on FOM. TV show “walls” are pages where TV fans can post comments, reviews, links, photos and quizzes related to a show or episode.
